Fostering young enterprise at Ashdown Primary School

Ashdown Visit_2

Prem Goyal, CEO of Global Markets Consultants (GMC), made his first visit to Ashdown Primary School in Sussex as Patron on 25 April, where he was warmly greeted by staff and pupils.

Overall, Prem spoke to approximately 400 children across the junior and infant schools on his visit. The pupils showed a lot of enthusiasm when Prem talked to them.

During morning assembly, Prem recognized 20 pupils on their outstanding academic and extra-curricular achievement by presenting each of them with a certificate of accomplishment.

In the afternoon, Prem was invited to take part in a ‘Lions Den’ competition, where teams of pupils would pitch their business ideas to Prem and some teachers.

Prem heard business ideas from 12 teams and was impressed by all of them, recommending all projects to be sponsored by giving them loans. Speaking to staff at the end of the day, Prem introduced the idea of organising an Enterprise Fair, where all 12 teams could sell their products.

Recapping an enjoyable day, Prem said: “I was blown away by the achievements and enterprise of Ashdown Primary School’s pupils. The school clearly has a fantastic set-up and a talented team of staff who clearly foster and nurture the talents of their pupils. I can’t wait for my next visit here.”

Thank you to Yolanda Houston, School Business Director, for organising this insightful day.
