Prem Goyal OBE JP is an Alderman of the City of London. He also serves as a magistrate, school governor for two prominent schools and as a trustee for Shelter, sitting on its Audit and Risk Committee.

Prem is a NED of the fintech company Rise Inc. and a Council Member of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). He has also been appointed as a strategic advisor to the Royal Commonwealth Society (RCS) and the British and Commonwealth Chamber of Commerce in Finland (B3CF). He is also a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) International Committee.

Having been a professional engineer (PE) in the USA, Prem worked for investment banks including Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank in New York, Tokyo, Zurich and London for 20 years, specialising in derivatives trading, risk management and internal audit.

In parallel, Prem launched Global Markets Consultants (GMC) in 2002 and has been its CEO and CFO since then. GMC provided management consulting services, winning Deutsche Bank’s coveted Preferred Supplier Status every year from 2005 to 2013. Having closed GMC’s consulting business in 2013, Prem now manages its investments, financial accounting, tax filings and CSR efforts.

Growing up in India, Prem had modest beginnings. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) before winning a scholarship for a Master’s in Engineering at Clarkson University. Prem then obtained an MBA from UCLA and graduated with the Dean’s Outstanding Student Award. He has completed executive education at Chicago Booth and achieved the Certificate in Company Direction from the Institute of Directors (IoD).

Prem has travelled to c. 125 countries, including the North and South Poles. Prem was awarded an OBE for services to the economy and promoting charitable giving in 2012.
